A Fresh Start
In 1996, Island Hospital first opened its doors to the public, with a goal to offer top-notch healthcare to the community. I was a new nurse at the time, just out of school, and was lucky to be part of the team that started it all. We were all super hyped and ready to make a difference in people’s lives.
Facing Challenges
Starting out wasn’t easy, though. We had to deal with limited resources and work hard to establish ourselves as a trustworthy healthcare center. But I got to see how dedicated and tough my colleagues were. Together, we got through the hardest times and came out even stronger.
Being Open to Change
As time went by, we realized we had to keep up with the changes in healthcare. It was a big moment for us when we fully embraced new technologies and ways of doing things that were proven to work. These changes totally transformed the way we took care of patients and improved their outcomes.
Connecting with the Community
We didn’t just stick to our clinical work. We wanted to get more involved in our community. We organized health fairs, classes, and programs to spread the word about staying healthy. It felt awesome to see how much this stuff helped the people we were looking after.
Helping the Next Generation
One of the best parts of my job was working with and training the next group of healthcare pros. It was awesome to see that same passion and drive that I had when I first started.
